Mariam Al Ali Al-Maadeed is the Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies and Professor of Physics and Materials Science at Qatar University. She has been leading the research and graduate studies strategies, programs, and developments since 2016, and has played a major role in developing the research and graduate programs, as well as fostering and strengthening national and international relations within this field. Professor Al-Maadeed is currently chairing the Academic Network for Development Dialogue (ANDD), a new United Nations initiative related to implementing Sustainable Developments Goals (SDG) within universities in the Arab Region. She is a winner of the Leadership Excellence for Women Awards (LEWAS), a program dedicated to recognizing professional excellence in women from the energy sector in the Middle East.
Abdelaziz Bouras is a Professor in the Computer Science and Engineering Department of the College of Engineering at Qatar University. He currently manages the Pre-Award Department at the Office of Research Support. He worked earlier at the University of Lyon, France, as a Professor until 2013. He has managed several international projects (including EU FP7, Qatar Foundation, French ANR) and large Erasmus-Mundus programs between the EU and East Asia, exchanging around 400 students and faculty between the two continents and enhancing collaboration between the partner universities. Professor Bouras has published many research papers in refereed journals and conferences, co-founded three international journals and published several books, including Industry Integrated Engineering and Computing Education: Advances, Cases, Frameworks, and Toolkits for Implementation (Springer, 2019). He is currently chairing the International Federation of Information Processing (IFIP) Working Group 5.1, a group of scientific and industrial experts active sustainable lifecycle engineering.
Mohammed Al-Salem is the Director of Research Support and a Professor in the College of Engineering at Qatar University. In the Office of Research Support, he has initiated a several research and innovation programs, such as the High Impact Grant, the Collaborative Grants, and the International Research Collaboration Co-fund (IRCC) programs. These programs have had a significant impact on the transformation of Qatar University into an international university. Before that, he held the position of Head of the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering for several years. During his term, Professor Mohammed introduced innovative pedagogical tools and platforms contributing to the digital transformation of his department.
Nathalie Younan is a Project Manager in the Office of Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies at Qatar University, dealing with research and education innovation and leading the annual ResearchForum on the University of the Future. Nathalie has experience directly related to higher education institution transformation models and has built a solid international network of university decision-makers on the topic. She holds Master and Bachelor degrees from École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland, and joined Qatar University as Research Assistant with the Center for Advanced Materials (CAM) before joining the Office for Research and Graduate Studies.
