This book is a compilation of selected papers from the 14th International Symposium on Computer Science in Sport (IACSS 2023), held on September 27-30, 2023 in Hangzhou, China. The work focuses on the application of computer science and technology in the field of sports (such as intelligent data collection, data mining, visual analysis of game data, virtual reality, machine learning, computer vision, match prediction models and performance analysis). The contents make valuable contributions to academic researchers, college students, coaches and athletes, and sports management personnel (such as managers of sports associations, training bases, and professional clubs). Dr. Hui Zhang graduated from Zhejiang Normal University with a bachelor's degree, Beijing Sport University with a master's degree, and the University of Potsdam in Germany with a Ph.D. From 2003 to 2013, he was a professor at the Shanghai University of Sport, the executive deputy dean of China Table Tennis College, and director of the Key Lab of Technique and Tactic Diagnosis and Analysis, State General Administration of Sports. Since May 2014, he has worked at the Department of Sports Science, Zhejiang University as a Professor. He has won the second prize in the National Science and Technology Progress Award, the first prize for the Olympic scientific research project of the General Administration of Sport of China, the second prize in the Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award, and the second prize of the Science and Technology Award of the Chinese Sports Science Association. He currently serves as the President of the International Association of Computer Science in Sport.
Dr. Martin Lames received his doctoral degree (Doctor of Sport Science) from Johannes Gutenberg University, Mainz. He obtained his postdoctoral teaching qualification (Habilitation) in sports science from Christian-Albrechts University, Kiel, in 1997. Prior to being appointed to the Chair of Movement and Trainings Sciences at Augsburg University (2002-2009), where he headed the sports institute from 2004, he held a professorship position at Rostock University from 1997 to 2002. Since October 2009, he has been the holder of the Chair of Performance Analysis and Sports Informatics at the Technical University of Munich. He used to be the President of the International Association of Computer Science in Sport (2013-2022) and the Vice President of the German Association for Sports Science (2003-2007).
Dr. Arnold Baca is a Professor at the Faculty of Sport Science, University of Vienna. He received his Ph.D. degree in Technical Sciences from the Technical University of Vienna in 1986 and acquired his postdoctoral teaching qualification (Habilitation) at the University of Viennain 1998. He is the Editor in Chief of the International Journal of Computer Science in Sport and used to be the President of the International Association of Computer Science in Sport (2007-2013) and the Chair of the Austrian Association of Computer Science in Sport (since 2002).
Dr. Yingcai Wu is a Professor at the State Key Lab of CAD & CG at Zhejiang University. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Before his current position, he was a researcher at Microsoft Research Asia, Beijing, China from 2012 to 2015 and a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California, Davis from 2010 to 2012. His main research interests are in visual analytics, information visualization, and human-computer interaction, with a focus on urban computing, social media analysis, text visualization, and behavior analysis. He has published more than 50 refereed papers, including 21 IEEE TVCG papers. His six papers have been awarded Honorable Mention at IEEE VIS (SciVis) 2009, IEEE VIS (VAST) 2014, IEEE VIS 2021 (two papers), IEEE PacificVis 2016, and IEEE PacificVis 2021. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the International Association of Computer Science in Sport.
