NOTE EDITORE
Since the development of the first modules, hollow fibers have totally revolutionized the world of membranes—thanks to the new technological breakthroughs and innovative materials discovered. The importance of a book putting hollow fibers in the spotlight owes to this type of configuration being more and more appreciated, particularly in large-scale applications. Moreover, the advent of nanofibers has injected new vitality in biomedical research, air and water separation and filtration processes, and emerging areas of nanotechnology. This book singles out and highlights the unique properties that hollow fibers and nanofibers display in the fields where they already represent the dominant configuration and where their full exploitation is still hindered by economic and technological constraints.

AUTORE
Alberto Figoli is director of the Institute on Membrane Technology - National Research Council of Italy (ITM-CNR) since 2019, which he joined in 2001 as a researcher. He holds a graduate degree in Food Science and Technology from the University of Milan, Italy, and a PhD in membrane science from the University of Twente, the Netherlands. He is an expert of membrane technology, particularly membrane preparation (in flat, hollow fiber, and capsule configuration) and characterization and its application in environmental field. Mir Saeed Seyed Dorraji is an associate professor at the Research Laboratory of Applied Chemistry, University of Zanjan, Iran. He earned his PhD in the field of applied chemistry (polymer technology) from the University of Tabriz, Iran. His research focuses on the synthesis, characterization, and application of nanostructured materials for membrane technologies, photocatalytic processes, and coatings. Francesco Galiano is a researcher at the Institute on Membrane Technology - National Research Council of Italy (ITM-CNR) since 2019. He completed his graduation in pharmacy (2009) and PhD in membrane science (2013) from the University of Calabria, Italy. His main research activities are oriented toward the preparation, characterization, and application of polymeric membranes (in flat and hollow fiber configuration) for water treatment and purification processes.
