TRAMA
This edited volume covers all aspects of the Neglected Tropical Disease Scabies. The contributions are organised into four themed parts. The first part reviews the history of the disease and its treatment and management, part two is dedicated to parasitology and basic research on the disease causing parasite, Sarcoptes scabei. Epidemiology and disease burden including public health issues are discussed in the third part in detail. The last section of the book is covering clinical manifestation and management. This volume is the first one of its kind, providing an insight into all aspects of the skin disease which is causing considerable morbidity and mortality. Chapters are all written by dedicated experts in their respective area of interest making the publication a must have for all scientists and clinicians as well as public health specialists dedicated to Scabies research in any aspect.SOMMARIO

Dr Katja Fischer is a Group Leader at the QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute in Brisbane. She completed her undergraduate training as a molecular parasitologist at the University of Freiburg, Germany, followed by a PhD in molecular biology of malaria parasites at the University of Würzburg, Germany, followed by post doc positions at QIMR Berghofer MRI. She became Laboratory Head in 2007 and Group Leader in 2013. Her laboratory at the QIMR Berghofer MRI is one of very few groups worldwide providing since 2003 continuously crucial biomedical research towards reducing scabies and associated secondary infections.Olivier CHOSIDOW is Professor of Dermatology and past chair of the Department of Dermatology at the University Paris-est Creteil, Henri Mondor Hospital, Creteil, France. Dermatologist since 1987, he obtained his PhD in clinical pharmacology in 1995 and graduated in clinical epidemiology in 1997.
